POSITION OVERVIEW

As Momentum looks to the future and how to provide sustainable funding for our mission, a key pillar of our strategy will focus on growing our foundation support. Currently a third of Momentum’s annual donations come from our foundation partners. The Foundation Strategy & Engagement Director will be responsible for ensuring high-level engagement with our current foundation contributors to continue and grow their support, while working to identify, cultivate and solicit new foundation partners.

This role is highly strategic and collaborative and built upon the current foundation partnerships that drive sustained philanthropic investment aligned with Momentum’s mission. The Foundation Strategy & Engagement Director is the primary professional relationship manager for institutional funders.

The Director will oversee a current portfolio of approximately $4.5 million and is responsible and will be evaluated for growing that portfolio at a significant rate. For all assigned foundation donors and prospects, the Foundation Strategy Director serves as a trusted point of contact and guides overall fundraising strategy, including grant development. This role reports directly to the Global Director of Development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Foundation Relationship Management, Stewardship, and Fundraising

  • Manage a portfolio of existing foundation partners, including overseeing and executing high-level communication and stewardship with principals and/or staff.
  • Identify and lead the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new foundation partners.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager throughout the funding lifecycle, overseeing grant development, submission and reporting.
  • Partner with the CEO, Global Director of Development, Founding Director, Board members and lay leaders to leverage leadership relationships in support of foundation engagement and solicitation.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive and individualized stewardship strategy for foundations.
  • Deliver on quarterly and annual targets and goals by meeting retention, upgrades and increases, and new acquisition metrics

Proposal Strategy & Grant Development

  • Provide strategic oversight of foundation proposal development, including framing, positioning, and alignment with funder priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure grant submissions accurately reflect program design and outcomes.
  • Maintain oversight of the grants pipeline and coordinate timelines with stakeholders.
  • Create and manage stewardship calendars to track touchpoints, reporting deadlines, renewals, and engagement opportunities.

Development Operations & Collaboration

  • Partner with Development leadership to support overall fundraising strategy and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to align donor strategy, program priorities, and operational execution.
  • Ensure accurate records to maintain donor data, track activity, and support reporting needs through Salesforce.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong passion and commitment to Judaism, Jewish community, Jewish continuity, Israel and Momentum’s mission.
  • At least 7 years of proven successful fundraising/sales or related experience.
  • Significant experience identifying, cultivating, and soliciting five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts from individual donors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong and trusted relationships with donors, board members, lay leaders and staff.
  • Results-oriented with desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt and respond to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
  • Excellent PC literacy is a plus with preferred competency in all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Sharepoint).
  • Advanced proficiency in development-related aspects of databases, preferably experience with Salesforce.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to occasionally work non-traditional hours based on operational needs in a global environment with staff across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to meet with donors and attend events.

This is an exempt position. The salary range is $140,000 - $175,000 annually, depending on relevant experience.
